Bay Area Now 7

July 18, 2014 – October 5, 2015
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

Excerpt from the announcement on e-flux:

Initiated in 1997, at each turn of Bay Area Now YBCA has had the opportunity to revise its understanding of how the arts play a powerful role in communicating a nuanced experience of life of the region. In this edition, the platform is significant: the exhibition demonstrates how artists and the local community lead us into new territories of understanding during periods of change, and to even bigger questions about the work art does for the social realm. This platform is rooted in the belief that a decentralized curatorial process opens up an opportunity for a wider range of voices and create spaces for dialogue beyond the arts.

Working closely with their artists, each partner curated an exhibition that expresses the spirit and purpose of their unique mission and vision. Publication Studio installed a print-on-demand workshop that gave visitors a look inside their production process.
